Hubo incluso gente a la que conocimos con mascarilla y jamás la vimos sin ella. Era como si el futuro distópico que a veces veíamos en las novelas, en el cine o en los videojuegos se hiciera presente. Nos acostumbramos tanto a no vernos que, cuando nos quitamos las mascarillas, teníamos miedo qué veríamos y a qué verían en nosotros.

The pandemic suddenly forced us to stop seeing almost all of our faces. Even when we started to do something similar to the previous life, the masks were imposed in our concerts, in our birthday parties, anniversaries, in the moments that we wanted to remember for a lifetime. There were even people we met with a mask and we never saw them without it. It was as if the dystopian future that we sometimes saw in novels, movies or video games became present. We got so used to not seeing ourselves that, when we took off our masks, we were afraid of what we would see and what they would see in us.
